Free ASO keyword tool
This free tool analyzes a live App Store or Google Play listing and reports the keyword coverage it currently has: which terms the title, subtitle and description actually target, how much of the available character budget is used, and which relevant terms are missing. Start the free check below and the analysis runs against the live store listing — no signup and no card. It is the same keyword analysis appXL's agent runs continuously, exposed as a one-off check.
Check your listing
Search for your app and appXL will pull the live listing, score its keyword coverage field by field, and show what it is missing. Free, no signup.
Start the free checkHow to use it
- 1
Find your app
Search for your app by name, or paste its App Store or Google Play URL. The tool pulls the live listing directly from the store.
- 2
Review keyword coverage
See which terms your current metadata targets, and how much of each field's character budget is actually being used.
- 3
Check the gaps
The report flags relevant terms your listing does not cover and fields that are under-filled or duplicating terms already used elsewhere.
- 4
Apply the changes
Rewrite your title, subtitle and description against the gaps, then re-run the check after the store re-indexes to confirm the coverage improved.
What the tool checks
| Field | App Store | Google Play |
|---|---|---|
| Title | 30 characters, indexed | 30 characters, indexed |
| Subtitle / short description | 30 characters, indexed | 80 characters, indexed |
| Keyword field | 100 characters, indexed | Not applicable |
| Long description | Not indexed — checked for conversion only | 4,000 characters, indexed |
Because the two stores index different fields, the same listing scores differently on each. The tool applies each store's rules separately rather than reporting a single blended number that would be wrong for both.
What it does not do
Being straight about the boundaries: this is a coverage and structure check, not a rank tracker. It tells you what your listing targets today and where the obvious waste is. It does not track your position over time, estimate competitor downloads, or forecast the install impact of a change.
- No historical rank tracking — use a paid platform if you need trend data.
- Search volume estimates are directional; no vendor has real store search volume.
- Limited to a few checks per week per device so the free tool stays available.
Frequently asked questions
Is this ASO keyword tool really free?
Yes. There is no signup, no card and no trial period. Checks are limited to a few per week per device so the tool stays available to everyone.
Does it work for Google Play as well as the App Store?
Yes. It analyzes each store using that store's own rules — Google Play's indexed long description and Apple's hidden keyword field are handled differently rather than scored the same way.
Where do the keyword suggestions come from?
From the live store listing, the terms your category's top-ranking apps target, and store search behavior. Volume figures are modelled estimates, since neither Apple nor Google publishes real search volume.
